CooperVision Partners With EcoExploratorio to Create Scientific Room of Interactive Marine Life in Puerto Rico

(PRESS RELEASE) JUANA DIAZ, PR — As part of its educational mission in STEM disciplines, EcoExploratorio, Inc., has established a collaborative partnership with CooperVision to create the Scientific Room of Marine Life at the Puerto Rico Science Museum. The room — which is part of the Oceanic Exhibition — will give visitors the opportunity to discover, explore and learn about oceans and marine life, as well as the environmental conservation of Puerto Rico’s natural resources and how they are affected by climate change. The museum expects the exhibit to benefit thousands of students interested in the marine sciences and natural ecosystems of the oceans.

EcoExploratorio received a $25,000 grant from CooperVision Puerto Rico to create the new exhibit, which includes open fish tanks that will allow visitors to interact with various species found in Puerto Rico and around the world.

“Our involvement in this project reaffirms our commitment to helping enrich the education of the thousands of students in our communities who are interested in STEM disciplines,” said Rolando Torres, executive vice president of Global Manufacturing, CooperVision. “With the introduction of the Scientific Room of Marine Life, our goal is to provide all available educational tools and resources for students to discover, explore, and familiarize themselves with marine life and the importance of natural ecosystem conversation on our island.”

“This partnership with CooperVision Puerto Rico further enriches our offering of informal education in the field of marine sciences and environment for the benefit of thousands of students and families in Puertor Rico,” said Jenny M. Guevara, executive director of EcoExploratorio, Inc. “We are extremely honored that CooperVision is part of our Allies of the Museum so that we can continue our mission of supporting education for the entire Puerto Rican community.”

As part of its educational partnership with CooperVision, EcoExploratorio will make available its digital Virtual Science platform, which connects scientists, teachers and experts from around the world to teachers, students, and the general public to educate them on the importance of conserving and preserving marine ecosystems and oceans. This remote learning experience is offered free of charge.

EcoExploratorio has educational and collaborative partnerships across the world, including with the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources, NASA, and FEMA, to develop activities that help to enhance the school and community resilience educational program.
