Essilor Vision Foundation Continues Expansion in 2015

(Press Release) In its seventh year of operation, Essilor Vision Foundation is on track to nearly double its original goal set for 2015 of 52,000 pairs of glasses dispensed to those in need.

In 2014, EVF, through mobile vision clinics, school vision days and Kids Vision Fests, provided 175,000 vision screenings, performed more than 32,000 comprehensive eye exams and dispensed 40,000 pairs of glasses to children and teens in need, all at no cost to families.

This year, at the 2015 Special Olympic World Games in Los Angeles, Essilor Vision Foundation joined the Healthy Athletes Opening Eyes Initiative to provide vision screenings, prescription glasses, sunglasses and sports goggles to athletes.

As part of the World Games, the Foundation sponsored the GenUin Social Impact Summit by Generation United, along with two Filipino students, Sashi and Brina. The students presented a program proposing an eye fair in the Philippines to bring awareness to the importance of corrected vision through entertainment.

“2015 has been a great year for Essilor Vision Foundation and Kids Vision for Life as we’ve continued to expand our program among new audiences reaching even more people in need,” said Bob Colucci, chairman of the Essilor Vision Foundation. “We’re proud of our continued efforts to raise awareness of the importance of eye health, particularly as it relates to the ability to learn, and meet the vision needs of children across the country and beyond.”

This year, Essilor Vision Foundation also hosted a golf tournament in Orange County to help raise money for local students. The tournament was a great success raising more than $15,000. In October, EVF will host a golf tournament in Dallas at Tour 18 with the goal to raise more than $50,000.

Essilor Vision Foundation’s website – www.essilorvisionfoundation.org/myevf – accepts online donations and provides volunteers a simple way to sign up to help with various events throughout the year.
