Eyewear Firm Claims Trademark Infringement by Christian Dior, Céline, LVMH

Safilo is also named.

California-based Live Eyewear is alleging that LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton and the Céline and Christian Dior brands are infringing on its trademarks.

Live Eyewear has filed a lawsuit in U.S. District Court for the Central District of California, The Fashion Law reports. The complaint centers on two trademarks: SOFT TOUCH and COCOONS.

COCOONS is the flagship brand of Live Eyewear. The lawsuit claims that LVMH and Céline sold “Cocoon” eyewear, thus infringing on the trademark, according to The Fashion Law.

The California firm also claims that LVMH and Dior infringed by selling sunglasses bearing the SOFT TOUCH mark. That mark is described as a “rubberized finish for use specifically on and sold as an integral component of eyeglass frames, spectacle frames, sunglass frames and clip-on sunglass chassis that provides a corrosion resistant seal and a velvet like surface,” The Fashion Law reports.

Also named in the complaint is licensee/distributor Safilo Group S.p.A.
