Got a Question? We Know Just the Person to Answer It

I have always been inquisitive, curious. I was definitely one of those kids that responded to every statement a grown-up made with a “Why?” … followed very quickly with a “Yeah, but why?” It was, no doubt, incredibly annoying to the adults in my life.

As I got older, the questions got more complicated and the exasperation of my parents, teachers and early managers more apparent. Fortunately, I settled into a career that allows me to ask questions for a living and my incessant curiosity and insistence on discovering the “why” of things has been channeled into a force of good … I have also gotten much better about wording my questions. But the biggest difference, is that I learned how to identify the right people to answer my questions with a minimum amount of frustration.

I think a lot of people have questions but they don’t know how or who to ask them of, especially when it comes to asking for help or advice. In this issue’s Big Story, we identified the questions that have repeatedly come across our desks on how to best run a small (optical) business and are sharing experts’ answers to all of them. For space, we had to cut it down to 26 but we’ll be rolling out more in our regular Ask INVISION feature over the next several months.

How to manage online reviews produced a million questions by itself, so we carved that topic out specifically as this month’s special feature. In “Yelp, That Sucked,” we share a few of the humorous reviews some of your colleagues have received, as well as their best advice for dealing with this modern day equivalent of word-of-mouth referrals.

Still, the answers we get aren’t always satisfying and sometimes they just prompt more questions, so if you have a question you’d like answered (and someone you’d like to answer it) drop me a line and I will try to make it happen!

Best wishes for your business,
