OWA Names Winners of Leadership Scholarship Award

(PRESS RELEASE) DALLAS, TX — The OWA announces the results of the October 2020 Leadership Scholarship nominations. The Leadership Scholarship Award recognizes OWA members who have served the OWA with their dedicated committee work and strong commitment to growing leadership roles for women in the optical industry. Members and sponsors alike were asked to nominate the women they felt most deserving of these grants, which are to be used to further the professional and personal development of the recipients. Many thanks go to our OWA Individual Contributors, whose donations help make the following scholarships possible for:

  • Stephanie Espinosa, “OWA Talks” Podcast Host, Bel Villaggio Eye Care
  • Sandra Mohr, “OWA Talks” Podcast Host, New England College of Optometry
  • Courtney Myers, Vice Chair, OWA Events Committee, Red Havas

The OWA also announces an added benefit created exclusively for OWA’s Platinum Sponsors: each of these sponsor companies were asked to select an exceptional female employee who shows promise, dedication, and drive to also receive a Leadership Scholarship. Additional scholarship winners are:

  • Jasmine Broussard, Senior Director, HR Business Partner, Essilor
  • Cathy Firman, Customer Care Assistant Manager, EdgePro/GPN
  • Kathie Sapnas, Regional Sales Manager, Luxottica
  • Kylie Matya, Sales Director/West, Safilo
  • Kristen Reynolds Hopper, State Optometric Assoc. Relationship Manager, VSP
  • Arlene Rinaldi, Product Development Coordinator, Zyloware

These grants, valued at up to $2,000 each, will be used to provide professional mentoring opportunities to each recipient, while continuing to promote OWA’s founding principles of connecting, inspiring, and leading women in the optical industry.

The OWA congratulates these extraordinary optical women as they continue their leadership journeys.
