(PRESS RELEASE) CHICAGO – Prevent Blindness, the nation’s oldest volunteer eye health and safety organization, announced that Linda M. Chous, O.D., chief eye care officer of UnitedHealthcare, and Jeffrey L. McClellan, president/owner of Anthologie Inc., have been elected to the Prevent Blindness Board of Directors. The vote was held July 17 at the 2018 Prevent Blindness Summer Board Meeting in Washington, DC.
Chous serves as the senior eye health professional at UnitedHealthcare, where she oversees vision plan quality, clinical initiatives and wellness programs for more than 19 million plan participants. She uses her clinical expertise to improve the eye health of people nationwide, developing new solutions and services for employers, employees and individuals. In addition to owning The Glasses Menagerie, a pediatric optometric practice in Minneapolis, she is a past president of the Minnesota Optometric Association and has served on the American Optometric Association Clinical Practice Guideline Evidenced Based Optometry and Health Promotions Committees. She is a published author and recently received the Women in Optometry Theia Award for Innovation and the AOA President’s Award, among other recognitions. Dr. Chous is a graduate of the Southern California College of Optometry.
At Anthologie Inc., McClellan manages his creative communications firm and is in charge of new business. Anthologie works with clients in the vision industry, including Satisloh and A&R Optical. He is also an adjunct professor in Strategic Communications at Marquette University. For more than 17 years, he has volunteered at Prevent Blindness Wisconsin, serving as a board member and chair of the marketing committee. Over the years, his firm has donated a variety of graphic design and marketing services. In addition to his volunteer work at Prevent Blindness Wisconsin, he serves as a leader on numerous service trips sponsored by the United Methodist Volunteers in Mission to Honduras. McClellan earned a BA of English from Bowling Green State University and a MA of English/communications from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
