Ray-Ban Brings Back an Old Style with ‘Retro Confidence’

The look was created in 1987.

Ray-Ban has reintroduced The General, a style that was created in 1987 as a tribute to Lt. Douglas Macarthur.

“Reinvented for the 21st century, The General toughens up the curves of the Aviator for a sharp silhouette that embodies retro confidence,” Ray-Ban said in a press release.

The look has been reinterpreted with a range of colors and gloss finishes.

The General is available as both sunglasses and optical lenses. There’s a choice of four colors for the optical frames and eight lens colors and gradients for the sunglasses.

Colors include cool metallic, classic black, military green and a copper flash gradient.

“With stylish, military-inspired rims and a double bridge, the design looks to the original Aviator, while making a statement all of its own,” Ray-Ban stated.
