(PRESS RELEASE) SECAUCUS, NJ – Safilo USA is implementing a combination of salary reductions and furloughs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The changes take effect April 13, the company said in a press release.
“Our goal throughout this crisis, is to protect our organization now and for the future, meanwhile doing our best to minimize any financial impact to our employees and sales representatives while supporting our customers with the best service possible,” said Steve Wright, president and chief commercial officer of Safilo North America.
At present, all Safilo USA employees, including customer care representatives, who can conduct business remotely are working from home, according to the release.
“The company continues to provide uninterrupted service, taking orders 24/7 online via its b2b website, www.mysafilo.com, and via its customer service center (800-631-1188) open Monday – Friday 8:30AM-6:30PM EST,” Safilo USA stated.
Safilo’s North American distribution center in Denver, CO, remains open, with reduced operations based on a recent slow-down of orders processing and shipping. The company also continues to manufacture and assemble Smith goggles, also at reduced capacity, at its Clearfield, UT, facility. Smith announced on April 2 its participation in Goggles for Docs, an effort to provide ski goggles to healthcare workers who currently have no eyewear protection while treating patients in the wake of COVID-19.
As announced on March 24, Safilo has been offering a series of well-received virtual training seminars on a variety of topics for the past three weeks and will continue to make these available to customers.
