Vision Council Is Expanding ‘Opening Your Eyes’

(PRESS RELEASE) The Vision Council shares with members updates to the Opening Your Eyes: The Vision Council Scholarship Fund and steps being taken to reach more potential applicants in more communities across the United States.

Expansion to Additional National Federation of Opticianry Schools (NFOS)

First, The Vision Council is expanding the program from its three launch schools—Georgia Piedmont Technical College, New York City Technical College, and Middlesex Community College— to additional institutions within the (NFOS), including Durham Technical Community College (Durham, NC) and Hillsborough Community College (Tampa, FL). Over the coming months, The Vision Council will expand the scholarship to additional NFOS institutions.

Regional Marketing

Additionally, The Vision Council is working with Spotted MP, a small, women and minority-owned business with expertise in regional, grassroots marketing efforts, to promote the scholarship through a comprehensive regional marketing campaign. Through Spotted MP, The Vision Council will seek opportunities to reach high school students and their families in local markets of participating NFOS schools with messages about the field of opticianry and applying for the scholarship.

Additional Support for Scholarship Recipients

The Vision Council will maintain a close relationship with the selected students and welcome them to the vision community in a number of ways. Upon graduation, The Vision Council will provide additional student support, including providing free registration and discounted continuing education at both Vision Expo East and West and complimentary National Academy of Opticianry (NAO) and Opticians Association of America (OAA) membership.
