Vision Council Names Liaison for Optical Retail Division

(PRESS RELEASE) ALEXANDRIA, VA – The Vision Council has named David Pierson as the staff liaison to its recently created Optical Retail Division.

Through his 30-plus years of experience in the retail industry, Pierson has spearheaded and managed operations, merchandising and strategic planning through a variety of leadership positions with organizations such as Refac Optical Group, CPI Corp., Cole National Corp., Federated Department Stores, Target and Sears. Most recently, he served as the founder of J. David Optical Consultants.

The Vision Council’s Optical Retail Division – which was announced in January and continues to grow with more than 30 participating companies of various sizes – focuses on the unique business needs of optical retailers, as well as the important relationship between retail and wholesale. The Vision Council believes Pierson will provide a unique perspective in driving the programs for the Optical Retail Division, with guidance from already appointed Division Chair James Rosin of Rosin Eye and Vice Chair Stuart Jolly of Walmart.

“We’re thrilled to welcome David to The Vision Council team,” says Ashley Mills, CEO of The Vision Council. “Each of our Division Liaisons are responsible for interacting with divisional leadership and members to help guide programs and initiatives. With David’s incredible experience in optical retail, he’s the perfect fit for this position.”

Under Pierson’s leadership, the Optical Retail Division will aim to enhance The Vision Council’s ongoing efforts to support a healthy optical marketplace, broaden the resources available to its six other operating divisions, and allow its programs and services to better reflect the optical industry as a whole.

Divisional membership is open to all optical retailers. For questions about the Optical Retail Division or information on becoming a member, contact Greg Chavez, executive vice president of operations and membership of The Vision Council, at gchavez@thevisioncouncil.org or 703.740.1399.
