There Is No Shortage of Things Harris Decker Loves About Running His Business and Only One Thing That Tries His Patience

Harris Decker
Eye Designs of Westchester Scarsdale, NY

When asked his favorite things about running a business, Harris Decker came up with three great ones: 1. “Frame buying… It’s so fun to work with independent designers and see what’s new year after year. Traveling for SILMO and MIDO isn’t a bad thing either.” 2. “We have a saying we use that is fundamental to what I love about our business: ‘We turn patients and customers into family and friends.’” 3. “Solving simple problems; like when we offer a free adjustment, case or cleaning cloth and someone says that we ‘made their day.’ It always makes me happy.” And he only came up with one least favorite (emphasized three times): “Deflecting B2B calls.” When those pesky telemarketers work his last nerve, he enjoys a great movie — A Few Good Men, Almost Famous and Heat are favorites — tucks into a big bowl of spicy ramen or enjoys a round of disc golf, which has the added benefit of “plenty of walking through the woods.”
