She Complained Her Eyes Were Always Red, and Wondered How She Could Solve the Issue

I HAD A PATIENT COME in complaining of red eyes. She was concerned that her co-workers were asking why her eyes were always red and was looking for a solution. Her vision was otherwise perfect.

I took a careful history: “Do they itch? Do they burn? Do they sting?” Her answer was “no” to all.

I did the exam, and everything looked normal. I kept probing: “Is there anything else you can tell me?”

Her answer: “Well, they’re only red when I smoke weed.” — Dr. Sarah J., Minneapolis, MN
