A Patient Insists These Are Not Her Glasses and Someone Switched Them!

I just had an 85-year-old patient come back with her new eyeglasses, saying they were not the ones she selected. She swore we had switched them on her. I pulled the same frame off the board, showed her the writing on the temple, comparing the exactness of both. She is a high plus Rx, so I told her it might be the magnification of the Rx changing her perspective when looking through the lens. She told me, “That lady (me!) kept going in the back and doing something to them.” She just knew they were switched, saying “no one has ever gone to the back and done stuff to her eyeglasses before!” I explained that I was doing my job and further explained the adjustment process. After much discussion, she left with the eyeglasses, a hug, and plans to wear them to church on Sunday.
