Editor’s Note: Are We Having Fun Yet?

Take time this summer to try new things, connect with others

Vision care is a serious business, it’s true. But it’s also one that lends itself to endless “aha” and even “wow!” moments, whether you are giving a patient a technology-assisted tour of their eyes, fitting someone with the perfect frame, creating a window display that will cause double takes, or throwing a neighborhood mixer/trunk show over Memorial Day Weekend.

Summer is the perfect season to experiment with new ideas, so in this issue of INVISION, we serve you dozens of ways to broaden your business horizons and grow your bottom line. Our “Party Time” feature offers ideas for staging memorable events, while our guide to stealth advertising gives you 20 creative, low-cost ways to spread the news about the great services and eyewear you offer. (Three hints: Enlist neighboring businesses in your plans; go outside every chance you get; and don’t forget that even though kids are currently counting the days until summer vacation, their parents will soon be thinking about back-to-school eye exams, glasses and contact lenses.)

As always, this issue of INVISION is powered by you: the American ECP. Every month, we pick through your Brain Squad responses for the best ideas and business intelligence that America’s local eyecare and eyewear entrepreneurs have to offer. If you’re an owner or top manager of a vision care business and you’re not yet taking part in the Brain Squad, we hope you’ll join us at invisionmag.com/brainsquad and take our short monthly surveys so we can feature your great advice, too.

Fun is one of our favorite words here at INVISION, so no matter what you have planned this summer, we hope you’ll have plenty of good times with your patients and customers. Add your ideas to this issue’s stories; you’ll find them posted on our website at invisionmag.com. And send us a few photos of your summer adventures, at work and at play. (Bonus points if you include a copy of INVISION in the picture! Email your favorites to editor@invisionmag.com, and we’ll use the best in the magazine and our 2016 media kit.)

Wishing you the best in business,
