Eyewear Designers of the CFDA Launch Frames to Benefit Fashion Targets Breast Cancer at Vision Expo East

It’s a special capsule collection.

(Press Release) New York – The Eyewear Designers of the Council of Fashion Designers of America (edCFDA) have joined forces to create a special capsule collection of eyewear frames in aid of Fashion Targets Breast Cancer (FTBC), the charitable initiative of the CFDA Foundation that raises funds and public awareness for breast cancer in the U.S. and internationally.

The participating CFDA eyewear designers are: Patty Perreira for Barton Perreira, Selima Salaun for Selima Optique, Blake Kuwahara, Jeff Press for Morgenthal Frederics, Daniel Silberman for Illesteva, Barbara McReynolds and Gai Gherardi for l.a. Eyeworks, Robert Marc, Shane Baum for Leisure Society, Grant Krajecki and Natalie Levy for Grey Ant and Christian Roth.

“In today’s times when charitable efforts are needed more than ever,” Roth said. “I am very proud that the edCFDA committee brought together 10 CFDA eyewear designers to create a collective capsule collection to benefit Fashion Targets Breast Cancer.”

Each designer created Frames for A Cause eyeglasses inspired by FTBC’s blue and white hues. The designs are debuting during Vision Expo East, the eyewear trade show taking place at the Javits Center from March 30 to April 2.

They will be available in fine optical and fashion stores from May 1.

The Eyewear Designers of the CFDA (edCFDA), a working group within the CFDA, was launched in 2014. Created by 12 CFDA Member eyewear designers, the group’s aim is to inspire, empower, and promote awareness of eyewear design and the vitality of the optical industry through promotion, education, mentoring and collaborative initiatives.

The Eyewear Designers of the CFDA are: Barbara McReynolds, L.A. Eyeworks; Blake Kuwahara, Blake Kuwahara Eyewear; Christian Roth, Christian Roth Eyewear; Daniel Silberman and Justin Salguero, Illesteva; Gai Gherardi, L.A. Eyeworks; Grant Krajecki and Natalie Levy, Grey Ant; Larry Leight; Garrett Leight; Patty Perreira, Barton Perreira; Robert Marc, Robert Marc Eyewear; Selima Salaun, Selima Optique, and Shane Baum, Leisure Society. Christian Roth, Gai Gheradi, Selima Salaun and Blake Kuwahara serve on the executive committee with Roth as the group’s spokesperson.

The Fashion Targets Breast Cancer (FTBC) name and symbol were created by Ralph Lauren and subsequently entrusted to the CFDA Foundation. FTBC was first presented in the U.S. in the spring of 1994 during New York Fashion Week, and formally launched in September 1994 at a special White House reception hosted by then-First Lady Hillary Clinton. During its initial campaign, 400,000 FTBC shirts were sold, raising $2 million to benefit the Nina Hyde Center for Breast Health at the Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown University medical center. This center was chosen as beneficiary at Lauren’s request, in memory of his friend Nina Hyde, the former fashion editor of the Washington Post, who died of breast cancer in 1990.

The Council of Fashion Designers of America Inc. is a not-for-profit trade association founded in 1962 with a membership of over 500 of America’s foremost womenswear, menswear, jewelry, and accessory designers. In addition to hosting the annual CFDA Fashion Awards, the organization owns the Fashion Calendar and stages New York Fashion Week: Men’s.CFDA
