Former Optical Employee Headed to Jail for Stealing $225K of Contact Lenses

She must also pay restitution.

A woman in New York state who pleaded guilty to charges of stealing $225,000 in contact lenses from her employer at the time, DiNapoli Opticians, is headed to jail.

Kathleen Litchfield of Cohoes has been sentenced to six months in the Albany County Jail, according to a press release from the district attorney’s office. She was also ordered to serve five years of probation.

Litchfield was accused of taking the lenses from the Colonie-based business over a three-year period and selling them. In February, she pleaded guilty to a count of second-degree attempted grand larceny and a count of fourth-degree tax fraud.

She repaid $14,367 for the amount owed in state taxes and was additionally ordered to pay restitution of $29,740. She was sentenced by judge William A. Carter in Albany County Court.

Litchfield, 42, worked for DiNapoli between 2013 and 2016, according to Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares.
