Inspecs Acquires Hardy Amies Eyewear Brand

Inspecs, a maker of eyewear frames and lenses, has acquired the Hardy Amies brand together with its intellectual property rights worldwide.

The brand was founded by Sir Hardy Amies in the 1940s and is focused on the design of ready-to-wear, occasion wear and bridalwear fashions.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Robin Totterman, CEO of Inspecs, said: “Adding to Inspecs Group’s premium heritage eyewear offering, we’re delighted with our acquisition of iconic Savile Row couturier brand Hardy Amies. Sir Hardy was official dressmaker to Queen Elizabeth ll for more than 40 years and one of the most innovative and influential British designers of all time. We look forward to working with existing licenses and exploring new opportunities, as well as launching an eyewear collection next year.”

Inspecs is a Bath-based designer, manufacturer and distributor of eyewear frames and optically advanced spectacle lenses. The group produces a range of frames and lenses, including optical, sunglasses and safety products both branded and unbranded/private label.

In December 2020, Inspecs acquired Eschenbach, an eyewear supplier headquartered in Nuremberg, Germany, that includes the American company Tura.
