Everything was set up perfectly for Carolina Herrera’s first international fashion show.
Creative Director Wes Gordon picked the stunning backdrop of Rio de Janeiro for Resort 2024. A long list of international celebrities were on hand for the full-fledged runway show. Bold outfits, flashy new Carolina Herrera Eyewear, and models were ready to go.
And then the rains came. The sudden downpour cleared the outdoor venue.
But the show went on, albeit from a distance. Attendees watched from an adjoining greenhouse as models, some holding their long-heeled shoes in their hands, strutted down the slick runway.
In a post on Instagram, Gordon admitted he nearly cancelled the show.
“After an hour and a half, I began to tell the models that we might have to cancel the show,” writes Gordon in the post. “It’s pouring rain. There are puddles on the runway. And they began to tell me ‘No.’ And then, more emphatically: ‘We want to do the show.’ They insisted.”
