Sight for the Sightless Glasses Get Worldwide Media Attention

Canadian eyewear firm is raising funds for charity effort.

Canadian firm eSight, which produces eyewear that helps the legally blind to see, is on a publicity roll with heartwarming back-to-back success stories in the world media. The glasses are equipped with a video camera that enhances images “seen” by the wearer and projects them onto high-definition screens in front of the wearer’s eyes. Last week, eSight glasses enabled a 29-year-old Canadian mother to see her baby for the first time. And at eSight’s California lab, a Buffalo Air Force vet who has been legally blind for 20 years was able to see new friends. The Canadian woman is the sister of eSight’s new director of fund-raising for a program to bring the $15,000 glasses to those unable to afford them.
