(PRESS RELEASE) Jim Mazzo, global president of Ophthalmic Devices with Carl Zeiss Meditec, Inc. has been chosen to receive the Ellis Island Medal of Honor in 2020.
The Ellis Island Honors Society honors the importance of immigration to America’s prosperity and celebrates the contributions immigrants and their progeny have made to our nation. The medal is presented annually to those who have shown an outstanding commitment to serving the nation either professionally, culturally or civically, among other criteria.
Jim is one of a few members in the ophthalmology community to receive this award over the past thirty-five years and he shares this special recognition with past medalists; including seven U.S. presidents, world leaders, Nobel Prize winners, other leaders and everyday Americans.
