What is the deal with our celebrity performers and their eye “glitches” these days?

Only a few short months ago, Katy Perry had the internets abuzz after a video of an on-stage issue with her eye (or, rather, eyelash) went viral.

Katy Perry super fans and online conspiracy theorists had a field day. (The suggestion that the Katy Perry on stage that night was actually a robot version of Katy Perry was one of our favorites.)

It looks as if permission slips have been signed for the next field day. This one comes thanks to another music icon, Nelly. However, instead of a blinking eyelid, this one was more of an eye roll.

During a concert earlier this month in Australia, Nelly’s eyes were seen rolling to the top of his head numerous times. Videos of his performance and his eye rolls went viral, drawing both concern and humor from fans and fellow performers.

And, of course, there are no shortage of explanations: From trouble adjusting to the lighting at the Juicy Fest in Melbourne, to exhaustion from a busy schedule, to he was “malfunctioning.” (The last one, of course, sounds a lot like another robot conspiracy!)

Comedian Spice Adams even made a spoof of Nelly’s performance and posted it on Instagram. Nelly has yet to explain what was going on with his eyes rolling up while he performed Down Under. However, the St. Louis-native did respond to the spoof video with laughing emojis.

Watch the clip below. What do you think?
