Registration Now Open for International Sports Vision Association 2024 Conference

(PRESS RELEASE) BOYNTON BEACH, FL — Registration is now open for Winning with Sports Vision,  the 8th Annual International Sports Vision Association (ISVA) conference, February 1-3, 2024  at the Loews Coronado Bay Resort in San Diego, CA.

The ISVA annual conference is a leading event for eyecare professionals, athletic trainers, coaches, and others interested in helping athletes reach their maximum potential. The 2024 conference is scheduled to offer a minimum of 16 COPE-approved CE credits and includes a diverse offering of pre-conference lecture style and hands-on workshops along with general conference educational sessions.  It is not being offered virtually.

The 2024 conference kicks off on Thursday, February 1.  Attendees may choose from one of two workshops:

  • Establishing a Sports Vision Specialty Workshop will introduce emerging sports vision providers to visual performance evaluation and performance vision training protocols, techniques, equipment, and materials necessary to establish and enhance a sports vision practice. It will also cover marketing, outreach, and practice management. To ensure that each attendee has an opportunity to get the most out of this Workshop program, registration will be limited to the first 50 registrants.
  •  Advanced Sports Vision Workshop – The advanced workshop will be rotating hands-on courses covering more advanced topics in sports vision training and evaluation. These courses will also include the following:
    • Applied Neurosciences in Sport: The “Brain Vision Training” model – This workshop will cover applying vision training to motor learning and posture, as well as cognitive loading. A model of designing training protocols will be discussed including example training plans.
    • Evaluation and Management of Concussion Symptoms – This course will cover advanced techniques in evaluation and management of concussion symptoms.  To ensure that each attendee has an opportunity to get the most out of this Workshop program, registration will be limited to the first 40 registrants.

The ISVA General Conference (February 2-3) will provide a variety of continuing education presentations (COPE approval pending) from some of the leading authorities in sports vision assessment and training and research.

  • Michel Guillen, OD  – Director of Ocular Technology Group International, and Honorary Professor in The School of Life and Health Sciences at Aston University, Birmingham. Dr, Guillen is a consultant to leading professional teams and athletes in sports vision.
  • Ken Hill, considered the top motorcycle riding coach in the United States
  • Taylor Hutchins, OD currently contracted with the 48th Rescue Unit of the United Sates Air Force as a Performance Vision Coach
  • Liam Lochhead, MSc, lead clinical research coordinator on several studies at the UC San Diego Human Performance Optimization Lab (OptiLab)
  • Jeremy Shumaker, OD, Chief of the Sports Vision and Concussion Clinic at UC Berkeley
  • Mariano Canegallo, OD, Professor in the Diploma in Sports and Neurosciences of the Institute of Sports Sciences of the Favaloro University of Buenos Aires and author of the book Brain Vision Training
  • Francisco Perez, OD,  co-creator of the first international meeting of experts in Myopia in partnership with the Myopia Management Group Latam, as well as the Neuro Optometry course, and the Vision and Sport course in partnership with Neurar Academy (NEURAR)
  • Nicole Detling, PhD,CMPC, mental performance coach with USA Archery (para) and owner of HeadStrong Consulting, LLC, a sport psychology company focusing on performance enhancement through mental skills training.

The conference will also feature several “Talk & Trial” sessions, affording attendees an opportunity to spend dedicated time with exhibitors to learn about and gain first-hand experience with a vast array of products, programs, and services that can help build and enhance a sports vision practice.

ISVA members receive discounted pricing. An early bird discount is available only for ISVA members if registered by November 30, 2023 and will only be applied for those attending both the pre-conference workshop AND the General Conference.   Any student in a professional degree program or resident in a post-graduate program is eligible for a complementary ISVA membership and there is a reduced registration fee for attending the general conference.
