(PRESS RELEASE) MONROE, NJ — Registration is now open for the Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation AssociationTM, International (NORA) 2021 Online Conference at www.nora2021.com. The conference will be available Live online from Thursday, October 14- Saturday, October 16, with select presentations available On Demand through the end of the year.

The NORA annual conference is a premier event for eye care and other health care professionals who provide rehabilitative services to individuals who have suffered a traumatic brain injury. This year’s program offers up to 14 COPE-approved CE credits with presentations by key opinion leaders in optometry and other specialties.

Clinical Skills Program (Thursday, October 14- Friday, October 15)

The Clinical Skills program offers three different levels which run concurrently and cannot be taken simultaneously. These presentations will only be offered live.

Foundations of Neuro Optometric Rehabilitation (previously named Clinical Skills 1)

This two-day workshop features two separate presentations on Thursday with attendees from both groups coming together for the Friday presentation.

  • Introduction to Neuro Optometric Rehabilitation: Vision Screening and Interventions for Allied Therapy Professionals  provides a foundational understanding of the role of neuro-optometric rehabilitation for vision disorders associated with concussion, stroke and other neurological syndromes.
  • Neuro Optometric Interventions and Prescribing – offers an introduction to neuro-anatomy and neuro-physiology in relation to traumatic brain injury rehabilitative care, with a specific focus on the principles and application of Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation, including strategies and practices on lenses, prisms, etc. with vestibular and proprioception dynamic movement.

Clinical Applications of Neuro Optometric Rehabilitation (previously named Clinical Skills 2)

This one-day course (Friday) is recommended for practitioners who have previously attended the Foundations program or who have experienced practitioners who would like to have a more advanced thought process on therapy and prisms. This presentation will expand attendee’s ability to implement treatment for patients who present with neurologically based vision challenges. A series of case studies including the patient’s history, initial evaluation, diagnosis, treatment plan and therapy program will be reviewed.

Extended Concepts in Neuro Optometric Rehabilitation (previously named Advanced Clinical Skills)

  • Building a Hospital-based Neuro-Optometric Practice – This two-day course is a how-to for experienced optometrists who want to transition to providing hospital based care. It will cover the range from start-up to follow-up, including establishing the practice, bedside testing, implementation of Neuro-Optometric Rehabilitation, charting and communication, and follow up strategies. Completion of Foundations and Clinical Applications levels is highly recommended.

Additional Presentations (Saturday, October 16)

Four additional COPE approved presentations will be available live and On Demand on Saturday, along with two non-COPE presentations by NORA fellowship candidates

Active NORA Professional and Allied Professional members receive discounted pricing. Students currently enrolled in a certified college of optometry, allied health profession, education, and rehabilitation program or in an optometric residency or a fellowship program can attend the conference for a reduced fee.
