The Big survey

Searching for Answers in the Optical Industry During These Uncertain Times

There is a lot going on in the world right now.

Maybe it is recency bias at play, but we all seem to be dealing with more than the usual amount of heavy items in our daily news cycle.

We address the state of things in The Big Survey 2022, going on now. We didn’t want to solely focus on the negatives. Any news outlet can do that. So we worded Question No. 18 accordingly in our search for optimism within the independent ECP community.

Here are a few of the anonymous responses this question has generated:

“Look at the bright side of things. Keep the focus on doing our best like we do. And people will come back! They love us!”

“As long as people have eyes, I will have a future-proof skill.”

“We always overcome.”

Though the vast majority of responses included sentiments of hope, not all see a bright future.

“Frankly, I am not optimistic. I am scared of my store closing because people cannot afford items.”

“I’m not sure I’m optimistic.”

There is no true answer to these survey questions. It is just one of the many reasons our surveys are so valuable: Reading different perspectives makes us all stronger.

If you have yet to do so, take time out of your busy day, sit down and relax for a few minutes, and take The Big Survey 2022.

You will find a mixture of basic data-point questions and quirky queries, such as one involving time travel and another about crazy experiences within the industry.

Here’s a small sample of topics that are covered:

  • Trends: What are you seeing within the industry?
  • Pandemic: What does the current winding down stage mean to your business?
  • Digital: How do various forms of technology affect/relate to your business?

Of course, you can skip any question you don’t feel like answering. But every question is in there for a reason. And every response has its place.

This is INVISION Magazine’s most important data-gathering tool of the calendar year. It paves the way for much of the content you’ve come to rely upon in every issue. It sets the tone for the new year.

We encourage every optical business owner and manager to follow this link and take part.
