Bausch Health is considering selling its eyecare business, according to a news report.
The Bausch + Lomb brand sells products such as contact lenses and surgical devices. Private equity units and other potential buyers have shown interest in the unit, Bloomberg reports, citing unnamed sources.
There’s no final decision yet. Other options under consideration include holding on to the business or spinning it off, according to Bloomberg.
A Bausch Health representative declined to comment, Bloomberg reports.
In August 2020, Bausch Health Cos. Inc. said it planned to spin off its eye health business into an independent publicly traded company called Bausch + Lomb – NewCo. The spinoff was to establish two separate companies:
- Bausch + Lomb – NewCo, an eye health company built on the Bausch + Lomb brand.
- BHC, a diversified pharmaceutical company with leading positions in gastroenterology, aesthetics/dermatology, neurology and international pharmaceuticals.
