Identify theft protection, credit monitoring services offered to patients at no cost.

The personal health information of up to 87,000 patients may have been exposed after a data breach of Bizmatics, a medical practice software company that’s used by Eye Care Associates of Pinellas in Florida, reports Fierce Health IT.

The article points to a letter on the eyecare provider’s website that’s addressed to patients, notifying them that their information “may have been subject to an unauthorized access by unknown persons. … Several other practices were also impacted by the breach. Bizmatics is unable to identify which patient files were accessed, therefore, we are unable to determine if your file was accessed.” The eyecare provider also says that it’s providing patients who may have been affected with one year of identity theft protection and credit monitoring services at no cost.
