A retina clinic opening within a CVS in Westchase, FL, will reportedly be the first subspecialty eyecare unit within a major retailer.

The Network Eye clinic will see patients at risk for macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy, ABC Action News reports. The clinic will provide quick screenings for those with diabetes.

“It’s an artificial intelligence device, which you put your eyes in, and literally in less than five minutes will tell you whether or not you have diabetic retinopathy,” said Steven Wisch, co-founder of Network Eye. The eye is not dilated for the screening.

Wisch added: “Once we get the result, if there is pathology, we educate the patient about the importance of now seeing one of our doctors and going ahead for treatment.”

The company “hopes to expand to more facilities across the country,” according to the article.
