I talk to patients about their hobbies (e.g., whether they ride a motorcycle), and their work. I then recommend eyewear. I used to be in the Marine Corps, so I can relate to safety eyewear needs. We’re near a Boeing plant and a hospital, and have a contract with a local fire department for their safety eyewear needs. Advancements in digital lenses for wrapped frames have made these popular. They cover the eye socket well and a shelf edging system can take off extra thickness on the digital lens to make the Rx work better. Our patients like Wiley X’s climate control series with foam cavity seal. These need a proper fit. We make our own eyewear, except for safety eyewear, which we send to the Wiley X lab for the safety stamp.
