Japanese design folds up to 2 mm.
Finally, a solution to one of the great mysteries of an aging population: “Where did I put my reading glasses?” Japanese designers have come up with glasses so thin they can be used as bookmarks. Shown in Italy recently during Milan Fashion Week, Paperglass eyeglasses by Nishimura Precision are only 2 mm thick when folded – about the thickness of a Crayon point. When in use, they feature angled hinges for easier reading. The glasses have been available only in Japan, where they sell for roughly $125, but the manufacturer plans for expansion into the international market.
