(PRESS RELEASE) EUGENE, OR – Valley Contax, Inc., in partnership with Contamac US, is pleased to announce the travel grant winner to attend GSLS in Las Vegas. Applicants had to submit a short essay about a contact lens patient that was meaningful to them. The award went to Riley Parker, a third-year Michigan College of Optometry student. She submitted a story about a double corneal transplant patient who was defeated and frustrated. They fit the patient in scleral lenses, giving him back his sight that changed his entire outlook and allowing him to see his granddaughter for the first time since she was born.
“This grant allows students the opportunity to dive more deeply into specialty lenses by attending GSLS to learn from top names in today’s industry,” says Dr. Adeline Bauer, professional relations director. “They get to build on their clinical experiences and hopefully develop an even deeper appreciation for fitting specialty lenses.”
