WE RECENTLY ASKED ECPs which celebrity’s eyeglasses they absolutely hate and whose they consistently love. It is rare we get any sort of consensus when we poll our readership, but when it comes to certain celebrity glasses we found you’re in agreement!

The famed frames you all agree need a restyle? Tom Selleck. Across the board! Or as one respondent — Frances Ann Layton of Eye Associates of South Georgia in Valdosta, GA — put it, “Tom Selleck has glasses issues. They are SO small and close in his glorious face. Release your face Tom!”

And you all love the Rocketman! Elton John was name checked by many as having a great collection of eyewear… “I am always excited to see Elton John on TV,” shares Carissa Dunphy of Monroe Vision Clinic in Monroe, WA. “He never disappoints with his eyewear selection and is always glam and sparkly!”

While you were divided on Al Roker and Oprah. Harry Roth of eyeQ Opticians, Millburn, NJ contends, “Any celeb wearing glasses is good for the industry whether you like them or not.”

Read on for the Loves and Hates directly from ECPs mouths.

HATES

  • I dislike Oprah’s. They don’t seem to fit her correctly. —  Tammy Warmouth, Main Optical, Luzerne, PA
  • Freaking Tom Selleck in BLUE BLOODS, they are way too small for him! — Jessika Arena, The Eye Center, Asheville, NC
  • “Al Roker, his Dom Vetro frames are nice but they fit him poorly.” — Sonja Franklin, OD, Modern Eyes. Austin, TX
  • Well, the pair that makes me make a funny face is Iris Apfel. I know they are her signature glasses but as an optician and someone with the close PD they are waaaay too big for her. — Julie Uram, Optical Oasis, Jupiter, FL
  • Whoopi Goldberg, she has no style. — Jeff Grosekemper, Casa De Oro Eyecare, Spring Valley, CA
  • Bad Bunny. I like him as an entertainer and his music but his choice in eyewear is as rebellious as his lyrics. — Diana Canto-Sims, OD, Buena Vista Optical, Chicago, IL
  • Madonna. I hate her eyewear choices. They age her face more than it already is. To make that many poor choices has to be intentional, right? —  Angel Miller, Cynthiana Vision Center, Cynthiana, KY
  • Not a fan of Meryl Streep’s. They age her greatly! — Sherry Morgan, Logan Eye Care, Lake Mary, FL
  • Chuck Schumer, always wearing those stupid half eyes. Get some decent glasses Chuck! —  Paula Hornbeck, Eye Candy & Eye Candy Kids, Delafield, WI
  • Charles Nelson Reilly’s eyewear was always hideous but it was his trademark so he gets kudos for that! And credit for wearing multiple pairs. — Dr. Dave Schultz, Urban Optics, San Luis Obispo, CA
  • I’m not crazy about Al Roker’s frames. He needs a great optician to help him. — Kenneth D. Boltz, OD, Dublin, OH
  • Whoopi Goldberg. She can do much better. — Maury Kessler, OD, Eyecare Plus Scottsdale, Scottsdale, AZ

  • Meryl Streep always looks elegant in her specs. — Texas Smith, OD, Dr. Texas Smith and Associates, Citrus Heights, CA
  • I love Gayle Kings glasses! — Nicole Leonard, Custom Eye Care, San Antonio TX

  • George Clooney makes any pair of shades look cool. — Rick Rickgauer, Vision Associates, Girard, PA
  • I always admire the frames worn by Oprah. She always seems to hit the mark with eyewear style. — Mitchell Kaufman, Marine Park Family Vision, Brooklyn, NY
