(PRESS RELEASE) DALLAS, TEXAS — For Essilor Vision Foundation (EVF), 2020 has been a year of unprecedented challenges, including how the foundation raises funds to fulfill its mission of eliminating poor vision and its lifelong consequences.
Fall is traditionally when EVF hosts its annual Golf Classic, an event that is often the foundation’s biggest fundraising event of the year. The 2019 Golf Classic raised just over $1 million to help underserved children across the U.S. receive critical vision care.
This year, COVID-19 concerns and precautions led EVF to cancel its annual event. Fortunately, many golf donors stepped up to support the foundation in lieu of the tournament. Their donations directly benefit people in the U.S. who lack vision care and cannot see the world clearly.
“EVF is grateful to our generous supporters who continue to make it possible for us to provide vision care to people in need around the country, even during a pandemic,” said Becky Palm, president and executive director. “Thanks to them, tens of thousands of people will be able to receive the critical vision care they need to thrive.”
This year’s major donors supporting EVF in lieu of its golf tournament are:
- $50,000 — Essilor of America, Luxottica of North America, Walman
- $25,000 — Dallas Cowboys, GPN Technology, HPC Puckett & Company, iSteer Inc.
- $15,000 — Bausch + Lomb, CooperVision, DENTONS, Zimmerman Advertising
- $10,000 — Expeditors, IC Technology Ltd., ICareLabs, Latham & Watkins, LLP, National Vision, PJ and Sue Downes, Shamir Insight, TURA Inc., Younger Optics, Zacoustic
