(PRESS RELEASE) ST. LOUIS, MISSOURI — The American Optometric Association (AOA) and American Optometric Student Association (AOSA) share that registration is now open for Optometry’s Meeting, June 21-24, under the banner “Voice Your Vision” in downtown Washington, D.C., at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center.
As the profession’s premier annual event, Optometry’s Meeting aligns optometric and industry professionals for four days of progressive continuing education and professional development alongside impactful networking opportunities, business solutions and this year’s unique focus on professional advocacy in our nation’s capital.
For the first time since 2017, the annual meeting of the AOA and AOSA will also play host to both the AOA+ experience and the AOA’s single-largest annual advocacy event, AOA on Capitol Hill, only blocks away from the halls of Congress. As optometry’s advocates engage our nation’s leaders to advocate for the quality care that doctors of optometry provide, our profession’s leaders also will convene for the 126th Annual AOA Congress and 55th Annual AOSA Conference.

Like no other industry opportunity, AOA+ is a unique experience for optometry students and faculty, as well as new doctors, to take their professional involvement to the next level. Reimagined to offer an immersive experience in career development, skill building, networking and advocacy, AOA+ at Optometry’s Meeting is the starting point to the AOA’s year-round program to help the profession’s future find success in optometry.
The AOA and AOSA are committed to helping optometry students, faculty and new doctors up to five years post-graduation attend Optometry’s Meeting with over 3,000 AOA+ travel grants available.
AOA+ travel grants will be available only through March 1. To learn more and secure a travel grant, click here.
AOA on Capitol Hill
Optometry’s single-largest annual advocacy experience and the foundation of AOA’s federal advocacy efforts, AOA on Capitol Hill directly connects the profession’s leaders with our nation’s policymakers. AOA on Capitol Hill is a key reason why the AOA is consistently recognized as one of the most effective, respected advocacy organizations in the nation’s capital.
AOA on Capitol Hill participation is open to advocacy-minded members with sessions intended to prepare attendees to increasingly join the ongoing advocacy fight for optometry’s future. Those sessions include Capitol Hill Briefings to learn more about the AOA’s federal advocacy, an AOA+ Rally in support of the critical primary eye health and vision care that optometry provides, and an AOA+ Advocacy Workshop to learn what it takes to join optometry’s ongoing advocacy for our patients and profession.
