Eyewear maker doubles down on donations.
DIFF Eyewear, a California-based eyewear maker with a buy-one-give-one policy, recently partnered with supermodel Kendall Jenner to double its donations for a 24-hour period, Bustle writes. For each pair of sunglasses sold, DIFF donates one pair of reading glasses to nonprofit organization Eyes on Africa. The brand currently offers seven different styles that range between $50-$75.
On Tuesday, the following blog post was published on DIFF’s website explaining the eyewear maker’s positive impact so far:
“Sherry, founder of E.O.A, helped us further understand how far our reader donations go. She received an email from a few of her distributors in Africa who expressed that the reading glasses are not only impacting the people that need them, they are also helping the economy. She explained further that "People are very thankful for the reading glasses, and we have been asking them to buy a case for the glasses and the tailor is making a decent sum". In doing this people are 1) getting the glasses they need and 2) making small purchases that they can afford to maintain the quality of their readers while helping stimulate the economy. This type of information is exciting because it shows that our material contributions are making a bigger impact and helping more people thrive than the donation initially provided.”
