Gen Z Loves Their Vision Benefits and More of What You Need to Know for September

ISVA Offers Skills for Sports

Evidence is growing that visual abilities can be strengthened and enhanced by appropriate visual training, making an athlete’s eyesight one of the most important pieces of equipment they have. The International Sports Vision Association (ISVA) has launched “Dynamic Visual Skills for Sports,” an overview of some of the most relative dynamic visual skills associated with 12 popular sports-related areas. The ISVA website features a “Find a Sports Vision and Performance Professional” locator. sportsvision.pro

Gen Z Wants Vision Benefits

Research reveals that Gen Z employees — who will comprise one-fifth of the workforce by 2021 — are more likely to utilize vision benefits than they were just one year ago. According to the 10th annual Transitions Optical Employee Perceptions of Vision Benefits survey, six in 10 are enrolled in a vision plan, compared to just half in 2018. Additionally, 44 percent say that whether a company offers vision benefits has been an important factor in their decision to accept a job. transitionspro.com

AOA Backs “Doc Access Act”

A bi-partisan bill backed by the American Optometric Association (AOA) and the American Dental Association (ADA) was introduced by Rep. Dave Loebsack (D-IA) in July. The Dental and Optometric Care Access (DOC Access) Act would eliminate plan mandates being forced on patients and their doctors that result in higher prices and less access to care. The AOA encourages ODs and students to urge their U.S. House reps to co-sponsor the bill. Visit AOA’s Online Legislative Action Center. aoa.org
