National Sunglass Day Prep

National Sunglasses Day is June 27. Conceived by The Vision Council as an annual reminder to protect eyes from the sun’s rays all year long, this year the focus will be on eyewear and eyecare that optimizes safety, style and performance. They are offering a suite of complimentary marketing materials, including logos, social media images, sample text, downloadable posters, and web banners here: Print-on-demand materials are also available to order from The Vision Council’s ProShop. The Council also encourages ECPs to engage patients in discussions about healthy vision maintenance.

Myopia Action Month Announced

Myopia Profile has announced its launch of Myopia Action Month this September. The inaugural event will bring four weeks of education, industry collaboration, and encouragement to ECPs to empower them to take effective action against the disease. The initiative is sponsored by CooperVision, EssilorLuxottica, and Johnson & Johnson Vision. It will focus on supporting ECPs in building clinical capacity with community support and accountability through an ambitious instructional program. Resources will be accessible through Myopia Profile’s extensive digital ecosystem. More information on Myopia Action Month, including how to register, will be available in the coming months.

Employees: Vision Care = Dental

A new survey conducted by The Harris Poll for XP Health finds that employees value vision care as much as dental, but many are confused about how to take advantage of it. The survey of 1,009 full-time employed U.S. adults, aged 25+, who are eligible for employer vision benefits, found the vast majority see the value of vision benefits, with 94% saying they are valuable, including 60% finding them to be very valuable. In fact, 82% say vision benefits are equally important as general medical insurance. Moreover, they find vision health (75% very important) on par with dental (77%), and ahead of annual preventative screenings (69%), mental (66%), and dermatology (36%).
