(Press Release) MIRAMAR, FL — For Eyes, one of the national leaders in optical retail, has established the For Eyes Foundation 501 (c)(3), a non-profit dedicated to improving eye health in the underserved communities of Florida.
The purpose of the foundation is to address, educate, coordinate and provide aid and relief to those in need of vision care.
To celebrate World Sight Day and give back to the community, the foundation hosted an inaugural event in Hialeah, FL. On Oct. 9, For Eyes launched the For Eyes Mobile Unit, a van equipped with the latest digital eye exam technology, to promote and deliver eye exams on-site at the Salvation Army. With the help of Hialeah’s Salvation Army and the donated time of Dr. Carlos Mesa, For Eyes was able to provide comprehensive eye exams to several members in the local community. Those members who needed a prescription, then received a free pair of glasses, which were fabricated in the local For Eyes manufacturing lab.
“Creating a charitable foundation has been a long-standing goal of ours and we are excited to see the impact it has on eye health in traditionally at-risk communities,” said Jose Costa, CEO of For Eyes by GrandVision. “We’re also thrilled to be mobile and have the ability to visit all areas of our home state to make a positive impact. And, World Sight Day was the perfect kickoff for our Foundation’s vision.”
