A Florida ophthalmologist convicted of health care fraud may soon be getting a pardon from President Donald Trump.

CNN reported that Dr. Salomon Melgen was “expected to be included in the clemency list” on Tuesday, Trump’s last full day in office. Trump was said to be planning to grant about 100 pardons and commutations.

Melgen was convicted in 2017 on dozens of counts related to a Medicare fraud scheme.

He was sentenced in February 2018 to 17 years in prison. He was also ordered to pay nearly $43 million in restitution.

Melgen was accused of performing procedures that weren’t necessary.

CNN noted that “names could be added [to the clemency list] and taken off up until the last minute.”
