(PRESS RELEASE) Gear Up, Shades On
The Vision Council encouraged members and sunglass-wearers everywhere to share a photo of themselves sporting their favorite shades using the hashtag #NationalSunglassesDay. Preliminary campaign results:

The Vision Council also hosted social media giveaways in the week leading up to National Sunglasses Day, highlighting seven different member companies. Thank you to our partners at Charmant, evil eye, Flying Eyes Optics, Marchon, Marcolin, Modern Optical and MODO for participating.

Media Coverage
To elevate consumer awareness and education, The Vision Council issued several press releases leading up to and on National Sunglasses Day.

A national media advisory garnered pickup in 900 outlets and reached a potential audience of 3.5 billion. National Sunglasses Day and The Vision Council received more than 250 print, online and broadcast mentions on June 27.
Throughout June, ‘National Sunglasses Day’ was mentioned in numerous trade and consumer media outlets including US Weekly, Essence, 20/20 Magazine, Optician Online, Vision Monday, Eyecare Business, Review of Optometric Business, and more.
