As a second-generation OD, running an eyecare business is in Dr. Jenn Chinn’s blood. “My favorite parts of running my business are freedom to make decisions and see the results of those decisions. The ability to be creative with new ideas, office design, efficiency protocols, etc. And hearing positive feedback from my team members and patients that something about their experience at my office left a lasting impression,” she says. On the flip side, “My least favorite is dealing with drama!” Whether it’s staff or patients, she finds it can be difficult to not let it affect her day. Of course, insurance companies make the least-favorite list, as does the never-ending To-Do List. “As an owner, your responsibilities never truly end, even when you leave the office.” But her formula for de-stressing is a simple one: “I like to ride my Peloton to get that anger or frustration out, eat something delicious and nourishing, and put on a face mask while listening to music.”
