Dr. Ansel Johnson is an award-winning diabetes care and education specialist. He loves the control he has of his schedule in and out of the office, being an early adopter of the industry’s newest technologies, and the “challenge of continually trying to be innovative.” As a passionate advocate of the profession and his patients, it’s no surprise he has little regard for employees just working for a paycheck, keeping up with changing government rules and regulations, and dealing with insurance plans. He is a champion of BIPOC representation and equity within the industry and out, and enthusiastic about the next generation of black optometrists. On the rare day when what he doesn’t like outweighs what he does, he enjoys reading for professional development, modeling his optical’s fashion frames and working out. “I want to get back into my martial arts…” Watch out bad vibes.
