1 It’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s an … octogenarian! On SUPERMAN’S 85th BIRTHDAY (well, the 85th anniversary of his debut in the 1938 June issue of Action Comics #1) hold a “Super” store event to celebrate. Hand out Clark Kent readers to all staff and customers to mark the occasion.
18 In the lead up to FATHER’S DAY, ask team members for pictures of themselves with their bespectacled dads and set up a gallery in your waiting room and on social media. “This really adds a personal touch,” says Megan Crabtree, president of Crabtree Consulting.
27 “With my sunglasses on, I’m Jack Nicholson. Without them, I’m fat and 60.” So said the Hollywood icon. The same goes for opticals. Without sunglasses, they just aren’t that exciting. On NATIONAL SUNGLASSES DAY, let your sun displays take centerstage. Set up a photo booth/selfie wall to encourage people to come in and try on a few pairs.
28 Given the long — and continuing — struggle for gay rights, LGBTQ people have earned their recognition. PRIDE MONTH, held to commemorate the Stonewall Riot on June 28, 1969, offers you a chance to show you get it. Set up a special tribute display in your window, sponsor a float if there’s a parade in your town, and last but not least, read up on what appeals to the community… it is much more encompassing than just rainbow motifs.
